Fair Housing Continuum, Inc v. Concord Management, Ltd

Fair Housing sued and alleged that Concord Management, Ltd. purposely misrepresented that the apartments were a '55 and over' community when they knew that it did not comply with the Housing For Older Persons Act of 1995 and as a result Concord discriminated against families with children who wanted to live at Spring Lake Cove.

Testers found that those who stated they had children were quoted higher rents and deposits than those testers who said they were 55+ and did not have children.

Even the ACLU thinks that Concord Sucks!

Just How Bad Is Concord Management?

It is bad enough that we have them managing our condos at Nautilus Cove in Panama City Beach, but it could be worse for us if we were renting one of the 56 unsold developer units from them.

Take a look at just how they treated one woman at Valencia Village in Orlando. This is the same 3rd rate company we have in our condo office.

It was so bad that the ACLU took up her case. See details at: and also

Carmen Mims v. Concord Management Co, Inc

Plaintiff Carmen Mims was a 45 year old woman working as a Leasing Professional at the Savanah Sound Apts, starting 6/30/08 then transferring to full time work in Leasing at Banyan Bay Apts 5/29/09.

On Jan 29, 2010 Plaintiff filed a Charge of Age Discrimination against Concord.

At 45, Plaintiff was the oldest of 3 women working in the Leasing Dept, the other women were 22 and 30 years of age.  On 12/14/09 the 2 younger women were making fun of older women who had gone back to college for a degree, as they ‘had one foot in the grave’ and Plaintiff questioned why they were doing this and received an abrupt reply from the other women.  Plaintiff discontinued the conversation and went to lunch.

On 12/17/09 Plaintiff was called into the office and fired, the prior conversation was cited as the reason, she was given 30 days to vacate the apartment she was renting.  Concord then hired a woman in her 20’s to replace Plaintiff.

Mims and Concord reached a ‘Confidential Settlement Agreement’ on 9/24/10 and the case was Dismissed.

Done in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida, Tallahassee City Division, Case No: 4:10cv-0218-RH/WCS
